Between 1980 and 1984 two bands were busy making a name for themselves in The Hague. At the time they were not aware of each other s existence. One of these was the symphonic rock band Ywis with Rinus Hollenberg on guitar and Julian Driessen on keyboards. The other was called Harvest and played melodic rock and had bass player Bert de Bruijne and lead singer Ruud Stoker. Whereas Ywis was very much influenced by the Canadian band Saga and published an LP in 1983 simply titled Ywis , Harvest played songs in the tradition of bands like Wishbone Ash and concentrated mainly on live performances.

The time was ripe for Timelock . Ruud and Julian had found the desired musical style and combined this with the talents of Bert and Rinus. They still lacked a drummer though (this was going to be an ongoing issue for the band). By then it was 1991 and the foursome went into Rinus studio to record new songs with the use of a handy tool: the rhythm box. In 1992 Louise Brooks appeared and the critics were unanimously positive. During that time Rinus performed live with the revived Q 65 and persuades drummer Rob Louwers to join Timelock for promoting the CD with live performances. This turns out so well that Rob stays on to record The Dawn in 1994. This CD scored well with the critics too and even rates 8.3 in Aardschok magazine. One track of this CD ( Someday ) was regularly played at Radio 3. After a number of performances the record label of Timelock (SI-Music) unexpectedly dissolved.

It cannot be denied that SI-Music was important for Timelock and did a lot for the band. After this the band found itself in a vacuum and Rob and later Rinus left the band. They worked with other drummers among others the talented Mike Boekhout, but this did not result in a stable band. In the meantime Julian was very busy with a symphonic rock project: a CD titled Dreamcarnation (2000). In this project many musicians participated among others: gitarist Martin Hendriks and drummer Ed Wernke (known from For Absent Friends ). Martin and the other members of Timelock get along well (not just musically) and after a few practice sessions he is taken up in the band.

In 2001 Bert, Julian, Martin and Ruud decided to make another Timelock CD with the material that they have written. By then Julian has been asked to substitute for F.A.F. s keyboard player in order to promote their latest CD The Big Room . Ed returned the favour by drumming for the new album, even though he will not be performing live with the band. The third Timelock CD 'Circle of Deception' was released on november 1, 2002. At the end of 2004 Martin and Rob decided to play music in a different style and leave Timelock. Consequence is a period of ostensible silence. The band continues to write songs and is in search for replacement. After a while Ronald Demilt was found as a new player for Timelock. To find an appropriate drummer was not that easy. 2006, the idea arises to contact Mike Boekhout who played in the band before. We were very pleased to hear he's ready now for a durable co-operation. At last Timelock is complete again.

Check dayly for the latest news of progrock on TIMELOCK.EU

Archive

HOME

NEWS

BIO

MEDIA

PRESS

GALLERY

LINKS

contact

Copyright © 2008 Timelock.
